Lyrics
Solar Flare
The guitar should sound like a lion
This one sounds like a mosquito
We can walk back home from the party together
In pretend incognito
And the solar flare
That lights your frozen sky
Comes in and crashes through the night
Then slips out no goodbye
You whisper like the northern lights
I listen like the stars
We could head back over the interstate
And wish for crashing cars
There’s beauty in the damage
Blessings in the curse
We can wish for something better
Or something altogether worse
Burn away the satellites
Burn away the fears
Burn away an ocean full of
Promises and tears
Sunlight on these windshields
Makes the traffic go so slow
Magic incandescent dust
Is a holy, blinding golden glow
The schools ought to be in session
But the roofs are still gone
We can work this problem together
’Til the next one comes along
Burn away the satellites
Burn away the fears
Burn away an ocean full of
Promises and tears
Light the fuse
There’s beauty in the damage
Blessings in the curse
Sweep in something better
Or something altogether worse
Shouldn’t really even have to care
Waiting for a solar flare
Shouldn’t even really have to care
I come in like a solar flare
